Rev. Ruiz is not only a National Spiritualist Teacher (NST) but is also a Certified Medium and has been with the Temple of Metaphysical Science since 1995. In the past, as a student Minister Rev. Ruiz served our spiritual home as part of our Ministerial Committee, leads mediumship unfoldment classes, and has devoted much time to inspire us through his sermons. Rev. Ruiz's experience within the Temple of Metaphysical Science over the years encourages a wonderful spiritual environment and we are honored to have him! The Reverend Hugo Ruiz, NST was nominated and elected to be Pastor of the Temple of Metaphysical Science on April 4, 2004. This article appeared in the National Spiritualist Summit in April 2004. New York Ordination The ordination of Hugo Ruiz, which took place on June 8, 2003 at 11am in the Temple of Metaphysical Science in Patchogue, New York, represented a culmination of years of study and effort. He was ecstatic to be able to share this joyous occasion with his family and friends. Without their support, no doubt, he would have not been able to reach this milestone in his spiritual journey. The service was extremely moving. The Reverend Catherine Snell, NST, and the Reverend Janet Travis, NST, were officiates for the service, and set the tone for the sacred event. Each selected speaker provided an individual touch of love that helped raised the vibration. as a prelude to the services, with his daughter Georgina by his side, he handed each person a red rose as a symbol of harmony,. love and unity. This was a special moment. The ordination service was an extremely special moment for him as well. Rev. Ruiz is very proud to be the first Colombian-American to be ordained in the history of Modern Spiritualism. Wow! That's 153 years. Rev. Ruiz was compelled to give credit to the special person who opened him to the Spiritual Realm at the tender age of eleven in providing him with a better life. He will never forget when he and his mother arrived in Queens, New York City and all his mother had left in her pocketbook was $35. This memory serves to remind him that "There are times in our lives when we have to take a risk in order to cross the obstacles that are necessary for our spiritual growth". At the same time this and other tough experiences have taught him to stand tall an face the difficulties of life head on with confidence. But, most importantly, he's learned to be proud of any accomplishment no matter how small it is. Rev. Ruiz gave thanks to his wife, Cassie, who encouraged him back in 1995, while visiting a friend in Buffalo, to visit Lily Dale because that's "your kind of thing." Due to her suggestion he found the address of The Temple of Metaphysical Science in The National Spiritualist Summit. Rev. Ruiz has come to the realization that practicing the Religion of Spiritualism is his path. Now that he has been ordeaine3d and accepts the charge of the ministry, he feels a profound sense of responsibility towards his fellow man. The Rev. Hugo Ruiz will continue to practice the Religion of Spiritualism at the Temple of Metaphysical Science with respect, dedication, loyalty and sincerity. He prays that the pioneer and forerunners of the past, illuminate his path in 2004 and beyond, so that he can continue to spread the light of love just as they did. In conclusion, he would like to give his sincere thanks to the Rev. Catherine Snell and the Rev. Janet Travis for all their support in helping reach his goal. He's also grateful from the bottom of his heart to those special people who are no longer on the physical plane, but played an instrumental role in guiding him towards his ordination. These include el Senor, or Mr. Armando Hernandez, Las Senora Maria, The Rev. Edna Claussen, and all the great spiritual masters that have walked the earth. Each of these special individuals taught him in their own way the value of the Religion of Spiritualism. |
